Well, I am filling my system and I notice this. I have no idea what it is and figure it's coming from either the Heater core or the pump  I saw it the first time and I emptied my system and ran some water through the hc, but now it's here again. Some of it went through my pump :eh?: Should I take it apart and try cleaning it or what do you guys recommend?

Growth most likely, could be teflon tape too I suppose. Do you run anything in the loop but water? I have seen this before with someone else. I would drain, flush with pinesol and some listerine, then use 10% antifreeze in the loop which should prevent this in the future.

Wait, you JUST filled it? Then I would say it is teflon tape that got in there somehow... definately get rid of it.

How and why do you think teflon tape would be in there? Just curious.

Is this a brand new setup? Or has it been running a while?

What ever it is you need to be rid of it before it finds a nice little hole to block up like your waterblock..

Teflon tape, like said above. That or someone got a "little" to excited about their watercooling :P

I noticed teflon tape floating in my system. Should I really care about getting it out? How do you apply the tape to the barbs without it coming off?

I originally had the same thought, though my thought still included an unnamed, flexible, semi-permeable material, in a post excitement state.

It would probably be a good idea to get it out. Its not going to help anything, but its likely to clog something up.

To keep it on you need to wrap it at least once around the threads, preferably more than once, and clockwise on clockwise barbs (turn clockwise to tighten), counterclockwise on counterclockwise threads. IE- just wrap it in the direction that pulls the tape tight as you crank the connector tight.

I took it out and put it down the drain, I didn't examine it, lol! Just glad to get that out and don't want to see it again. :)
