View Full Version : Thermal Tape
Where do I find thermal tape in canada? I'm in Vancouver, BTW. Does Radio Shack stock the stuff? Their US site mentions it, but the canadian one doesn't.

why are u in need of using thermal tape?
if you are using it for something like gpu or vid card ramsink then use thermal adhesive or superglue or epoxy
they stick much better

Hi h2k,
the best way to go is putting some Artic Silver II in the middle of the chip that you wanna cool and 4 little point of Superglue in the corner to fix the HeatSink, coz the thermal tape gives poor heat transfer.
I hope it helps ;)
But will the superglue unstick when it gets warm?
What are you gonna use it on?
If you don't want to use the super glue, you should try the AS2 epox, that's really good stuff, much better that thermal tape.

This is very true. On chipsets, video cards and mem modules, I have used the AS epox - and it works great. A good solid contact with much better heat transfer than with tape.

I don't believe the temps would get hot enough to unstick the superglue. I think it would take quite a bit to do that.

For me the temps of a graphic chip or a North bridge aren't enough to unstick the cooler fixed with the superglue, but if you prefer use the Artic Silver Epoxy that is really a great product.

This is a popular topic, I bookmarked the last time it was discussed heres a similiar thread:
Click here and AVOID super glue (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30651)
Hmm.... well i don't think the radioshack up here in canada has thermal adhesive. I had a pretty hard time finding their heatsink paste. I was thinking of using it on the ICS Clockgen on this mobo and then maybe on my tnt2 gpu, because the stuff they put on at the factory looks a little thick. What if i were to use drops of normal epoxy instead of superglue?
