Dsl startup in Win2k real slow

Everytime I connect to the internet I have to wait before the modem and the ethernet card actually start communicating. Even though I am connected to the net through the pppoe software, i get no connection before 10 minutes or so. I think it has something to do with wiondows cause i have no problems in win98. It says that I'm connected but everytime i ping the serevr it says that the server is down eventhough it's not. It seems like the network card doesn't wake up for real until 10-15 minutes or more sometimes. Got any ideas?

When I swiched to win2k i had the same problem (not as extreme) Try using RASPPPoe (search for it on yahoo) or check if your ISP has a win2k version (Bell Sympatico does, but that's only here in Canada)
