Me and my friend build a new pc using a combination of old parft we had lying around. After several restarts (most notably after the installation of DirectX 7 or 8), it won't boot, giving us an error saying that there has been some sort of massive regrestry error and to boot into dos and run sysrec or something of that nature to fix the problem. We have tried running that program, but it fails, kicking us back to dos. I even tried taking out a stick of memory that I had earlier this year proved to be faulty with another system. Here are the system specs:
K6-2 450
Azza PT-7 Socket 7 mobo
64MB PC100
Voodoo 3 3000 AGP
1GB Hard Drive (forgot brand)
Netgear NIC

Any help would be appreciated!

You should probably just start over with a fresh format.

I'd SCANDISK that drive, the whole shebang. Sounds like it's got some bad sectors that need to be marked off the FAT.
