View Full Version : Max Payne freezes up
Part 1, chapter 7 max keeps freezing up on me. I have to improperly shut my PC down. It's getting old. Here's what i'm running:
Duron 900@900 :) not tried to o/c yet
256MB SDRAM
RADEON 32MB SDR (PCI Version)
I'm not pushing the graphics too hard, either. I know my little RADEON can't handle the full potential of Max, so I'm runnning it on 1024x7XX (whatever), Bilinear filtering, 16 bit textures, no anti-liasing,and several of the other settings on medium.
The reason this thread is in the Video Cards part of the forum and not the Games section is 'cause I think it's a video card issue and not the game. BUT if someone out there knows a patch or somethin - let me know.
Thanks.

How is the graphics quality from the start of the games before the part where it freezes? Is it stable? ( no flickers or block-like graphics? ) If not, I think it might be the game. Is the game original, or did you get a kracked version of it? Maby try playing the game on another computer and seeing what happens when you reach that particular part in the game.
Good game, isn't it? :D
The graphics run real good - I think... It runs real fast and smooth. Only every once in awhile like when I'm in a big fight does it flicker, but not bad. It doesn't freeze up in the exact place every time just "close" to the same part.
And yes, from what I've seen so far, it's a good game.

Occasionally I have had the same in happen to me in Max Payne. Never in the same chapter, at any moment of a huge gun fight it could happen to me and it did. Like when I was fighting that crazy end boss for Part 1. Not sure if anything I did helped, but I cut down on some of the video options. Not sitting at my home pc I don't want to guess.
I am running the game on a Voodoo3 3000, with minimal problems. Just what I listed above.
BTW: If you get past Part 1 and enter the dream world. You will know when you get to that level, be sure to have a clean peice of paper and a pencil to draw yourself a map, it makes it so much easier. Then again, I could just tell you to.... nah, it's more fun to do it on your own. Hope you can get it figured out, email if you need some info on the first parts of the game.

LOL, same here. Then I made a map instead and found my way out. Remember that old saying about mazes and the maze of the Minitaur (spelling ?). I believe it was keep tight to one wall and follow it out, the left I think it was. Well, that is what I thought it was and thats how I got out of it.

Hey Ferrari,
Do you think that 7175 driver they were talking about at that "Max Payne Center" would be a good idea to use?
