random restarts and error message

i keep getting random restarts on my server about once every day. i check the event viewer and it get about 20 errors that say this:

source = disk
event = 15

and when i go into the properties, it says this:
The device, \Device\Harddisk2, is not ready for access yet.

how can i tell what is wrong and how can i tell which hd is hd2? will that be my hd that is primary master or primary slave? i only have hard drives on those positions.

Are there any bugcheck codes listed in the Event Viewer log for that particular Event? I'm thinking that there's a possibility the partition table is damaged. You could try running fdisk /mbr from the prompt, using a Win98/Me bootdisk...or the fixmbr command from the Recovery Console. You might also want to download the diagnostic software avaialble for your HDD...from the manufacturer's website. It could also be caused by something as simple as bad or loose cabling...even a loose HDD jumper.

I think hd2 is prob your prim. slave try running only one hd and see wht happens

nope, no bugcheck codes. i will try that other stuff later in the morning... this is my server doing this. :eek:
