So have they got Linux to fully support RAID with the HPT370 controller yet? Only reason I don't have a box with it on there now. All of my PCs have one in it and I never could get it to work unless it was used as a single drive setup.

I know Red Hat has software RAID functions built in but that's not really what I'm looking for.

I do have one PC without one but it's the one my GF uses and she's NOT going to use Linux.

Was just wondering since I've been out of circulation on the Linux scene for a few months.

The last time I tried to use a Highpoint controller was some time ago on a BP6. It worked in Mandrake 7.1 but did not in 7.2, haven't tried 8 yet on the BP6. Support might be available as a module or it might require a kernal recompile to get it working but this will not help you for a boot drive. I would just give Mandrake 8 a shot and see if it works. I can give it a try here with SuSE 7.2 on my KT7A-R and see if it will recognise the raod array as a drive during the install.

Tried it on all the latest releases of SuSe, Red Hat and Mandrake 8.0 but not 8.1. No hard drives detected on any of them.

Guess I'll have to wait a little longer or drop some mad cash down on a 3Ware Escalade controller since they're fully supported.

Should have a Celly 2 600 system I can make a Linux box out of in a few weeks with some extra parts I have laying around so I'll probably just wait until then.

Thanks for the reply all the same :]
