I finnaly got around to joining Overclockers.com folding team. But ive been having trouble with F@H. Everytime i try to play a game with folding program running, the game loses focus and gets minimized to the taskbar. It does this while being paused also. In order for the game to work correctly I have to close F@H ad i dont wanna have to do this everytime i go to a game.

Systems that are folding:
Centrino 1.5ghz
Barton-M 2.6ghz
Dual 2800+ Server
And A64 3000+

Thanks,
Pere

are u running the graphical client? does it have an icon in ur tray on the bottom right? if so that client is known to have issues with games, most of us here use the service version. if your using the graphical version one of us can get you a vesion of wedo's one click which is a fast 'n ez way to install the service install.

Yeah Wedo's service installer is great, it runs in the background and you don't have to worry about it. Also by the looks of it you should get the adv- methods version for all your systems except the centrino (general rule is over 2ghz) and if any of those systems have a gig of RAM or more make sure you enable big packets, those work units get you extra points (because they use more resources)

If i am running a instance on two computers, is it trying to render the same thing twice? Or does it do different parts of the protein. Im currently folding the same tinker protein on my laptop and desktop

You will get that a lot, I have 4 computers and sometimes 2 of them get the same protean, stanford still gets research out of it, they send the same protean out to be simulated multiple times so their results can be conclusive (or at least thats what I assume)

Secondly before you install wedo's one click version you will have to uninstall the graphical client, or else it will be running two instances on one machine (and you only wannd to that if you have a dual CPU machine or a processor with hyperthreading and even in that cause you want wedo's dualie one click) so I say finish the WU your on with your graphical client then switch over.

P.S. setting your username to TalvaranRW gets work done faster :bday: JK

Does folding work on dialup??? I have two more pcs at home that could be folding, and a bunch of spair parts. I would add my P4 3.4ghz to the mix but i dont feel like buying ram for it :(.

Yes, it works on dial-up too. You just have to connect every once in a while to allow for the WU's to send out and also be received.

As for the 3.4 Ghz machine... how much RAM does it have? If its not that much, you could always set bigpackets=no. I do that on a few of my systems.

yea the 3.4 P4 would contribute some pretty good ppw even without pb

=Mucho expensive! (for a dead platform)

:( :( :(
