View Full Version : Ummm... Mag7 problems.

Well, the Mag7 has been rattling for a while now, and my processor runs way above ambient, so i decided to rip my machine's heart (pump) out and benchmark it. I'm at college, so the only thing i could find was a 12quart bin. I figure i pumped about 11 quarts out, which is about 2.75 gallons. It took 2:39 to pump. If my math is correct, that's about 65GPH. That's 635GPH short of the rated. So, is this most likely an impeller problem? And if so, can I get a new one? Thanks...

if you havent ripped it apart it should still be under manufacturers warrenty... could try giving them a call and asking about it

Submerge the pump and try forcing water into the intake.

If the pump is allowed to suck air it can become damaged over time.

If your pump is noisy and fully submerged you may have a bad pump or an obstruction in the impeller chamber. There is no way a Mag 7 will pump it's rated flow with 3/8" fittings. With a Maze 2.2 an a 69" bong, my Mag 7 only pumps 36 GPH.

This wasn't when hooked up to the cooling system. The pump was submerged in a 10 quart tub with no fittings on the input, and just a hose on the output to go to the sink. Shouldn't I get more than ~65GPH with that?

Yep, time for a warranty replacement.

Then it is indeed defective.

If you can't do a warranty replacement you can buy replacement impellers. Unfortunately I can't recall the site where I saw them, but if you search this board you should be able to locate it.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I really don't care for those Danner pumps.

New impeller came today, and just by the feel of it i'm almost positive that is the problem. The new one is so loose and easy to spin, while the old one seemed all "gooped" up. Hopefully I'll get the new one in tonight or tomorrow
