I once got acomputer from my mom :p, she had gotten it from eMachinesa few years earlier, anyway it came with system recovery disc's. all you had to do was set the bios to boot from the cd-rom, put the first disc in, let it boot, and norton ghost would start up off of the cd and load the clone. I would like to do something liek that with my computer I got norton ghost 8, and I've got a burner, I would just like to know how to set it up like that, so it'll make a complete image of my hdd "after a fresh install of xp pro", that way i can just bott from the disc and it'll load the image to my hdd if i chose to, does anyone know how to do that ?

once you do a fresh install, with all the security updates, service packs and get all your programs installed and set up the way you like, ghost lets you make an image of your harddrive, just run the wizard and it'll take you through it step by step. one of the options is to create an .iso file I beleive, just use nero or alcohol120% to burn the .iso and you should be good to go. I know also that ghost lets you save the imae to either the same partition, another partition, another drive, or an external drive, if you go that route, you need to create a floppy, but that lets you restore the image form within windows (dos really). The Wizard is pretty good from what I remember, so give that a shot.

no thats the right option, maybe you just had a bad floppy or there was something on one of them..i dunno...i guess you could try formatting them (floppies ) and run through the steps again. Sorry I cant be of more help

i too just got norton ghost, and am finishing up adding all the programs i want. At norton they say there is a way to put the image directly onto cd. i'll hopefully have time to install it tonight.

well i think you need to create the floppies to boot from the CD within DOS
