Anyone know a popular commercial distrubuted computing projects? By commercial, I mean one that pays money. I'm doing research for a speech that I have to give (tomorrow lol).
I love procrastinating.
I've never heard of such a project, but I have heard of a few that are noncommercial *cough*FOLD!!!*cough*

I have heard of a company that sets up a DC system on all of the computers in like your office or that your company owns, and you then rent out the processing power of all your computers, or i might have misunderstood what it said but i think it was like that
THE BIG GIGANTIC HUMONGOUS LIST OF ALL THINGS DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING!! (http://www.aspenleaf.com/distributed/distrib-projects.html) :D
There are a few for-pay projects if you go through the categories. I've never used one, but the thought has definatly crossed my mind....

I seem to remember one that payed you if you found something. Only reason I remember it is because someone got sued by his employer for computer time because he had installed in on a few hundred systems. I can't recall the name of the project though.
Was it to break the 128-bit encryption? I remember there was a prize for that DC project.

Gateway was running one. They sold the cycles from their demoboxes for DC apps.
