I'm thinking of creating my own air tunnel form a 60mm to a 92mm fan. It's not worth 40 bucks (that's the lowest price) and it isn't made to keep the air cool, it is made of plastic or simple material. If I just buy one of those flexible pipes from Home Depo I think I could do a fine if not better job for around 10 bucks.
Has hacked this attempt? Is there a trick here?

I definitely think the fan adapters are over rated.
With a little ingenuity (and a dremel or holesaw) you can make a nice little blowhole in your case and duct cool outside air directly to the heatsink. Of course, this means you'll need to keep the side cover on your case all the time. :D Something that not a lot of people tend to do.
Edit: I should correct myself. Technically you don't need to use a side approach. You could very easily duct air from the back of the case as well. It just depends on the orientation of the components on the mobo. The side-on approach tends to be the easiest.

tha'ts a good point but I think I can still go around that if I use a connect another fan right onto the tunnel and connect the tunnel right onto the HS. I usuauly rum my case close but I still don't like the idea of my cpu dieing if I do open it or even the remote limitation I'm facing.
I'll post an update on my mini-mod when I finish with it along with the new and old temps+expense,
if you have any ideas take them out on me now, while it's still in the brainstrom process.
