is that all i have to do is take a pencil and cover the L1's and the L2's
do i just use an ordinary pencil to do it.

Only the L1's. A good quality No 2 pencil is all you need.

I tried the pencil trick & it works but also try to find conductive paint to link those L1 bridges. With a more consistent method of connecting the L1 bridges you don't need to check them as often like the pencil trick.

and be sure not to connect the adjacent bridges or it DEFINITELY WILL NOT WORK
