Was checking out the link for the Fan/LED mod and noticed that none of my fans would work for the mod according to the guy. That's disappointing. But I did think of something else. I have 2 Sunon 92mm fans(KD1209PTB1-6) and they don't have the 3rd wire for RPM sensing. I was looking at where the power runs into the fan and noticed the fans have 3 I guess areas where the wires are can be soldered but only 2 of them are used since the fan is missing the 3rd wire. I'm wondering if that 3rd available slot is perhaps a functional RPM sensing spot and just isn't including with this fan or something. I'd like to be able to get the RPMs on these fans just because I like to see numbers. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I haven't read this article, but I would imagine you could add the third wire for RPM sensing as long as there was a sensor on the fan.

Well there is a link to this article on one of the threads in this forum. Fab mod or Cool Fan mod or something like that. I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether or not some fans come with the sensor but perhaps don't have them hooked up. Guess I'll just give it a shot and see if anything catches fire. Heh.

If you do manage to get the sensor to work, make sure you don't run your fan on 7V by using 5V as a ground. The RPM sensor will screw up if the ground line isn't at zero voltage.
