View Full Version : amd?
hi,
i have a amd thunerbird 1.1 266fsb ghz and a ECS K7AMA motherboard.
The problem is that the bios only sees my cpu @850mhz, and the cpu set up in the bios is grayed out and says cpu Pnp, tried updating bios, no change.
Does any one know on how to clock this board / cpu or how to ungrey the cpu set up in the bios.
any thanks would be thanked muchly.

was it a brand new mptherboard? Can you call tech support on it.
Do you MoBo has a jumper that let's you change between 100MHz and 133MHz?
Brand new motherboard, not had this problem before
it has a jumper to change to bus speed from 100 mhz to 133 mhz, but when you change from one bus speed to another it does not post, but you when change it back it does post, strange

what is the RAM you have in there rated at? What brand?
Thanks guys, that works, runs now at 1133mhz, brill.
How would i go about overclocking the cpu on this type of board and do i have to use the L1 brdige trick.

I am not sure of the specs of this board but it sounds to me like it's a case of trying to run a Athlon "C" chip on a KT133 motherboard that isn't capable of true 133 MHz FSB.... 8.5 is the correct multiplier IF you're running 133 MHz FSB. If this motherboard has provision for changing multiplier, you can unlock the chip and run it at 11x100, otherwise you're going to need a different motherboard OR you'd need to modify your bridges to so that the motherboard reads 11x multiplier as the default.
