Graphic Workstation motherboards?

I was told that this is the type to go with for gaming, aparently it allows you to overcome the restriction of your data/graphics send rate that is inherant in most motherboards and overcomes it by have a seperate chanel for graphics and a seperate channel for data. Does anyone know what I am talking about and if so what can you tell me about these set ups, I am just trying to use one of these motherboards to replace my current FIC model.
