View Full Version : PC Boost?
As some of you know, I am a moderator over at ABIT's forum. I got a question from a member about a P4 CPU from PC Boost. It came with a sticker planted firmly on the heatspreader, warning not to remove it, or the warranty would be voided.
This guy e-mailed them, asking if they meant the sticker, or the HS, and told them he was having some SERIOUS overheating issues.
They got back with him today, and told him NOT to remove the STICKER!! Or his warranty would be voided
Let me state again, the sticker is on the TOP of the HEATSPREADER. Right where the AS5 should go! Covering the Intel printing, on the top of the HS.
Has anyone ever heard ANYTHING so stoopid?

I e-mailed them yesterday, (PC Boost) and their response is there.

I'd love to hear what Nevin from AS says about this!

That's super funny. He should pay with a cheque in an envolope that says warning payment is void if the envolope is damaged in anyway.

Yep. I'll grab a pic later on this week and post it, if there's anything left of the sticker. I'd suspect it's probably bubbled over by now. If it's anything like they said, it should still be perfect, minus some discoloration from the high temps. We'll see. I'd get a pic sooner, but I work for the next 3 nights at 15hrs a night.

:D Nice!
I stopped buying from pc boost a LONG time ago (when I got a clue early in the game). They're not just weirdos, they're old-school lunatics that get a ride off this sort of thing. Steer clear!

i think if i bought a cpu and it had that on i would return it. you shouldnt put stickers on there, the glue may ****** your overall cooling even if you do take it off.

Here's a pic after running the PC for 2 days at around 70C. After scraping the sticker off the best I could, I re-applied the compound and now it's running at 48-50C. Nope, could not have been the sticker.

The thing I like about these morons, they charge for a 3 year warranty on ABIT boards. Guys, ABIT already HAS a FREE 3 year warranty!!
[Sarcasm mode enabled] I'll buy stuff from them, suuure!! [/Sarcasm mode]

Damn that sucks. If it was me, I'd contact someone at Intel and report it. Sounds like some scam going on from PC Boost.

I sent him a link to this thread, I'm sure he will reply shortly.

There's a few Intel reps at this Forum and maybe they will talk to these bonehead's at PC Boost.
Sam, I should have mentioned it, Nevin answered a PM from me, to the effect that these guys were morons, and he has dealt with their type before.
In my opinion, morons might be too kind, something more like ID(ten)TS.
steve
I should ammend my post, Nevin never called them morons. He did say that he has heard about this before, and when he tries to contact them, they don't usually respond. I should re-read my PMs, before I open my big mouth! /edit
