View Full Version : Temps still high, screw it! And a few questions

Well since I couldn't find anyone it town that has Artic Silver II I had to get the "Shack" brand.

So I coated my cpu and buffed the heatsink with some steel wool and the temps are the same as before:(

Temps right now:
Mobo: 29
CPU: 55

I am using ASUS Probe to monitor them so hopefully it is just being wacky and reporting a high CPU temp.

I don't even dare try to use Burn6 utility as the temps go to 60 in about 5 minutes.

I think I may need some better cooling or something even though I thought I had that covered. I have an intake fan on front, exhaust fan on back a PCI slot fan next to my video card and a Volcano 5 heatsink/fan.

I also have the side of the case off and a small house fan blowing in, which seems to make no difference. My ambient room temp is about 78 degree farenheit, whatever that is celcius I don't know;)

On to the next problem:

I am stuck at about 1.37GHz on my overclock. My muliplier won't go over 10(well it does, but not stable) and my new Crucial DDR2100 is no better than the Kingston PC100 I had.

With the PC100 I was stable at 155x7.5(except some mouse hopping) and this DDR crap won't even do 150x7.5

Anyway will lowering my temps help me get to 1.4GHz? How can I do that since I have 4 fans already and no side on my case? No tricky stuff, just fans and air suggestions please.

Here are my CPU specs I got before put on the paste:

A1000AMT3C
Axia 0119VPBW
95827480671

I want to get 1.4 out of this CPU and if I don't I will have to buy a 1.4 and then I will need to get 1.8 at least.

I realize I left out alot of info that could be causing this problem, but I need to end this to get another beer. Maybe if I convert the case to an ice chest for my beer it will cool down:)

Thanks for your time, Scoobydoo!

Same here, I can't seem to get to 1.4GHz reliably yet but seeing that we both got crappy coolers(thermaltake) it would be a good idea to check out a better HSF. With you DDR mobo have you made sure that the HSF on the northbridge is seated properly? If that heats up then you will not be able to push a high FSB. My 2cents of it

Hmmm....

What is a North Bridge HSF?

All I have is the Volcano 5 HSF on the CPU?

Wega!

I think you need to get some AS2. When you are sayingt hat there is no differ in temp's when you have your case sides on or off, I'm almost sure that is because the heat transfer between the CPU and HS is bad. I think you will get a good decrease in your temp's, if you got some AS2.

This should give you some idea on what to expect from your cpu.

Have you raised your memory voltage? 2.7 seems to be good for crucial to about 160.

If you can get 1.8ghz from a 1.4 cpu using air cooling it will be a small miricale.

from my personal opinion i would think that first of all the AS2 WILL drop temps every time IF it is put on correctly. Along with the HS.
Also its just my 29 cents

How do I rasie the memory voltage?

The v-core is 1.8 right now, but that is different right?

On my mobo there is a HSF on the Northbridge. The image below is a just KT7A but it's almost like my KT7A-RAID which also has a HSF on the Northbridge.

Yes memory voltage is seperate from the cpu voltage.
No idea how you change it on that board thou.
The manual should tell you.
