Have you tried updating your drivers for the vid card? Also may want to grab the latest release of DX9 if you already dont have it.

Fixed the graphics issue. The graphics sure are perdy but the handling still is floaty and arcadey, i want a car that actually sticks to the ground and doesnt do 360s taking a small curve.

i love the demo .. it works without any problems on my rig with everything on max 1024x768 using cat 4.10 .. all i can say is WOAH !!! game is awesome .. plus now we have awesome replay option ( which was badly missing from nfs ug ) and there is now traffic in drifting mode :D

The colors are really something.Graphics are great and it seems like it's gonna be alot better than the first one.

for those facing problems ( black screen ) change your display card's drivers at office i tried the demo and it was giving the same problem ( cat's 4.8 on Radeon 9800 XT ) but at home it works perfectly, is it me or the game runs much smooth than the first part with everything on max? i couldnt run nfs : ug with everything on max :rolleyes:

No complaints here. I get a solid 40 fps @ 1280x1024 w/ 16x AF and no AA. All other in game details maxed. :D

Ok I love that they finaly added hydraulics to the game. Today well messing around I scored 1200+ points using the hydros. Kinda cool as I got it to hop in three wheel motion.

I never thought a demo would come out. Imagine what the real game is like :) :) :). Im really into the whole street racing scene on the computer and in real life.. this is definetly on my "Games to buy" list!

IMO these games just influence stupid 16 year olds in their civics to race eachother and think they can get away with stupid **** like this.

im pretty big into cars, and i know what the limits of my vehicle is, and especially my limits as i have no professional driving experience. i would ALMOST never consider racing on a regular street, unless it was a completly straight stretch and there was NO traffic. if i really want to race someone, it goes to the track. sadly some kids think they are god behind the wheel, just accopule weeks ago, i think it was in georgia, some stupid 16 year old ricer wrapped his car around a telephone pole, killing himself and the passengers in the car he clipped instantly....

the car handles really bad, the colors are too vibrant, the speedometer gage is like purple and all kind of colors looks a bit cheezy, wish they sticked to a bit more plain, feels like im driving a hippy car

When I was their age we saw someone riding their horse really fast so we got the stupid idea to drive our buggy down the road WITH FIVE HORSES! It was some crazy horse fun.

so um yea i just played it.

definatly most unrealstic game i have ever played, even tops counterstrike

seroiusly who pulls up behind a guy, instanlaly hooks up via "SMS" and they out run eachother, thats the biggest load of crap ever....

and i shifted from 5th gear down to 2nd, just to see if you can acually money$hift, definatly no realism in this game, you can bounce off the rev limiter and nothing happens.

and it make it seem like every single ricer has nitrous...just horrible for your internals...

and if a cop acually caught you purging, well, heh thad be teh funnay!!!111oneoneone1111!!

i want a standard racing game back, with real fast cars, Ferrari Enzo, Laborghini Gallardo, Dodge Viper GTS-R etc

The game is fun, but i dont like the culture behind it, I want a game more like project gothem for the computer

Exactly. Porsche was the best NFS ever. The only version with realistic driving physics and the only driving game ever with a perfect netcode. Unbelievable how smooth that game was online, compared to NFS:U2. And a Porsche owns every car in NFS:U.

Porsche is one of those games I play about once a year, it's just that much fun for me. How many NFS games do you play more than once for just the single player campaign?

Exactly.

I'm not discounting NFS:U. All of these games are a blast for me (save for Hot Pursuit 2). Hopefully U2 will be just as good.

EDIT: Is it just me or does that model on the installer's splash screen look stunningly like Brooke Burke?

well i say keep it to exotics or foreign. no V8s. But some more skyline/supra/lancer evo kind of stuff would be wicked fun. The game is super fun, the music is awesome, and the graphics are pretty. can't wait!

the RWD car, the miata was wicked fun, and it was almost cheating for the drifting. but i would always botch my launches in the drags. don't even want to think how many times i had to restart races to beat the game on hard. Myabe because of my logitech controller... the one that looks like the playstation controller.

Handling sucks, its not anywhere near as sensitive as the first one was for touch steering on the keyboard which is a shame - runs nice and smooth at 1600x1200 with all at max tho - looks so pretty :D

Handling sucks? Its better than the first one, this is actually challenging....The first one... was no challenge...

Well I downloaded this demo last night and it looks okish...however like several games of recent..ie battlefield 1942 I wont be buying it because it doesnt support a res of 1280x1024. My monitor is a 19inch lcd and that is the native res...1280x960 looks awful.

Why do these game writers not support 1280x1024 just lately?...for me it makes the game un buyable.

i'd get the logitech. i think it is called the wingman. looks exactly like a playstation controller and it has all the functions you need (very good defaults for the shift buttons, right where your index fingers rest.) plus the analog sticks make it easier to turn, unlike the keyboard which you have to tap like crazy to make a smooth turn. And it is very cheap, less than $20 and you can find it at all the big lame stores! I had troubles nailing shifts sometimes on hard difficulty in drag races, but i still got through it! i'm not sure if i had trouble because of the car, the design of the game, or because of the controller.

All these people complaining that they have to have cars that look like chaep toys, there is an answer...don't mod the exterior, just make it fast :burn: . And if you find the car spins too easily then switch the traction control back on!

while having H pressed move the direction keys and your car's hyrdolics will move in that direction ( car will lift a lil ) or atleast thats what i have been able to do honestly speaking havent been able to figure out that part myself :rolleyes:

Man I love this demo. Can't wait for the full game to come out. Yes som of the things are a little unrealistic, but I can live with that.

But the best NFS game IMHO was NFS Porsche. It was the most realistic racing game i ever played.
Never played Gran Turismo huh? I thought Porsche was still pretty arcadey. And it's easier since you're not racing on any true roadcourses, just public roads.

Odd... I just tried the demo again, and mine can't do anything above* 1024x768. The screen just flashes for a second, then stays the same. I should be able to do 1600x1200... I think I DL'd the demo from filerush or something, I'm uninstalling and trying whatever's on the official EA site.

It's fun for me, btw. I absolutely love the outrun, still not a fan of drift, and circuit's okay.

I have actually played Gran Turimo 1 and 2 and finished them both, but that was on playstation. Dont get me wrong i enjoyed both games and thought they were great but IMHO NFS Porsche just seems more realistic to me.

But which Gran Turiso are you talking about, 1, 2 or 3? If its GT3 then I cant comment because I have never played GT3.

Mostly number 1. I've beaten most of number 1 (my ps1 has since died), and played a lot of number 3 at a friend's. Just the sheer variety of cars and how differently they all handle is what makes me love GT so much, not to mention the hundreds of different races (in 3, more like dozens in 1). A viper, supra, skyline, impreza, and civic all handle very, very differently. Also the licenses was difficult at first, but very rewarding to finish them all. There's a huge variety of upgrades and tweaking to be done too. Being able to play 3 hour enduro races was neat as well.

I liked it. There are going to be more than just ricers also from what I read in the game. And its kinda cool how they make the cars have different face gauges to match the car itself. Drifting could be more realistic and I still don't like the whole rain thing but meh...

I found a good strategy for outrun that tends to work everytime.

-Make sure you are in the lead hauling some major azz. Bust a U-turn and fly right by the your opponent in the opposite direction. By the time they figure out what you have done, you have opened up a huge distance.
