View Full Version : What fsb/multiplier to use for 1ghz?
I just got a 1ghz tbird (ARGA9 weird step?) w/266fsb for my work. I have an Iwill kk266p and crucial memory along with an Antec 350watt PSU. I had one of the engineers here solder the bridges for me.
How do most people overclock these giggers? Should I drop below 133mhz and up the multiplier more?
If I could hear some peoples experiences of their own systems would be nice!

a general rule i follow is to try to push the fsb...that way the whole system improves and not just the CPU
i've never used a 1ghz t-bird for overclocking, but try something around 140*10 or so to start out and go from there
gl :)
i also have that stepping but i have a 900 mhz chip
but its just sitting on my mobo asus av7133
i am waiting for my other parts to come so i can overclock it and see wat i get

Actualy the oppisite, drop the multiplier and raise the FSB. That works better with most chips. The chip you have are new steppings and are mainly untested, I would be curious to see how far it would go.
Well, she hasnt turned out so hot!
Heres my resuslts:
150x7.5=1125 POST, windows crashed
133x8.5=1130 POST, no windows
140x8=1120 POST, no windows
133x8=1064, POST and Windows ok...
64mhz increase! Wooptyfriggindo!
I did find it odd that 150mhz was actually the only time I got into Windows though.
Machine wouldnt even post beyond 1130mhz
Well theres my experience with the new ARGA stepper, if you happen to see one, do exactly that, KEEP STEPPIN!
I could have something wrong elsewhere, its hard to say though, all my components are nice stuff, that list again.
T-bird ARGA9 1ghz 266bus
IWILL KK266p
Crucial 256MB cl2
Antec 350watt PSU
GeForce2 MX200
As far as trying to get anywhere else with this machine, I wont, its just a workstation, not even paid for by me :) But its really just a toss up as to what the problem is.
I have an AXIA-Y 266 T-BIRD and get 1.4 (140*10) easily, just good cooling, WBK38. I would think that you should get to at least 1.2 with no problem. How much did you increase the voltage?
1.85v as high as she'd go.
I was expecting at least 1.2 as well. Heh, I "actually" thought I was going to get 1.4 originally.
