I've got myself a varitable brick wall here

Specs:
2.8 Northy
kingston pc 333 value ram (will oc to 440 with tock timings)
p4c-800E dlx

For the life of god I can break 240fsb
240 is absolutly stable as a rock 241? wont even post.

temps arent an issue. my brand new xp-120 keeps it at a frosty 37C @ full load (@240fsb btw)

power supply isnt an issue, 25A on the 12V and its a good brand

ram isnt the issue its currently on the lowest divider witht he ram running at 320mhz (super tight timings BTW)

Vore is about 1.6V

All other buses are locked and my vddr is 2.75

I have seen this post at 265 before my xp-120 was installed.

any ideas?

Why don't you try loosining up those "Super tight timings"? :)

Run Memtest86 cuz my ram does 230Mhz 2-2-2 1:1 but starts to generate errors at 212FSB 5:4 unless I loosen it to 2-3-2-6. You have to be patient and eliminate things one at a time and it can be VERY time consuming...

i'll check that. it will run all prime tests w/o any problems so i guess I will try that mem test.

you already eliminated too much options for us ;)

As what lancelot said, i think its the ram too. Try putting it in different banks on the mobo and maybe another stick config. (borrow some maybe)

This sounds like the i865/875 Winbond CH5 issue, where RAM runs excellently at 1:1 ratio, yet anywhere from 240-260MHz FSB the system just wont post despite the memory divider or timings used.

I had the same issue with my 2.4C, at around 260MHz FSB and above the system simply stopped posting, even with the 3:2 ratio and slack timings (even though my RAM did 220MHz 1:1 using 2-3-2-5 timings).

At the time I was stumped, until I tried the Winbond BH5 sticks I had, and all of a sudden the brick wall I had hit was gone, and I was crusing at 3.6GHz (from just under 3.2GHz before).

I just found out one 512MB stick is going bad. It could do 230Mhz but now 228Mhz 1:1 or 212Mhz 5:4 isn't even Memtest stable anymore! Hmm, time to start looking into some PC4200-4000 whenever I can spend the money...
