hi

i am new here but i have the following problem
I have assembled my own pc with the following parts

Asus 4P4800deluxe
intel northwoon 3gh 800 mhz
512 ram pc 2700 1 pice
80 mb hdd

When i boot up the pc , the bootup procedure goes very very slow (about 1 min)
with the notice
at 320 Mhz single channel or virtual single channel
In addition to this the nortbridge cooler gets very hot almost immediatly about 4-5 min afer booting
The cpu tem idle is 31 c° but it's starts at 34C°

i have flashed the bios with version 1018 (latest version)
I don't know what to do with it
anyone???? please

The memory you have may not be that great with that processor. I'm pretty sure you can run the 800fsb chips with the memory but it will perform much much better with pc3200 memory (matches the fsb @ 200 mhz).

Also, what interface is the hard drive (i.e. IDE or SATA)? I've heard in some places that the newer bios has a delay on start with SATA drives.

And oh yes, the cpu temps seem about normal, especially with the stock cooler. The stock cooler on the 3.0's and up have a copper core, and it's what I use. On my board I idle about 26-27 C, so 31 isn't too bad. You really have to worry when you're idling 40+.

hello

could the pc2700 memory be the problem of the northbridge overheating??

i am using an Ide maxtor 80 gb 8mb ram
i still haven't been able to resolve the problem
and it's ennoying me
what can i try further

thanks

Well let me put it like this:

I've got a p4 2.4C (800mhz fsb) chip in a P4PE-X board with PC2700 memory, and it CRAWLS. I've never checked the temps on it (it's a work computer, don't really care), but it has noticeable lag. If you had some pc3200 around I'd definitely check it out, it very well may be the cause of the problem.

1018 bios

The 1018 bios really slowed my boot time with the long post.
I just flashed the 1017 bios.
It really sped the post up.
Thanks
