Safe to run vidcard from separate PSU?

Hello,

I plan to have a dual psu setup with one psu powering just the motherboard and the other psu powering the harddrives, fans and my vidcard.

Is this ok?

what kind of videocard is it. peole who have a x800 series card and tried running it off a sepparate psu ended up blowing the card as soon as they turned on the system. i dont know about other cards though. /just a warning

It worked fine for me but I didnt have a x800.I never knew about that problem untill now.

Id be a bit learly to try that...why dont you put the video card on the same psu as the motherboard that the videocard is connected too. Im pretty sure that would be a workaround for the blow out issue.
