After i checked out best buy's return policy, i came to the conclusion that i could go buy the x800pro (or any videocard) use it and return it >30 days from the date i bought it and get my $ back. this way i can determine if the card is really what i want, then when i return it i can buy a 9800pro, see how good that card is and then be able to come to the conclusion if i really need a x800pro....

what do you guys think about this?

yeah, don't forget to check about a return fee or restock fee. otherwise that is a good deal. I think if you try the x800pro you won't go back. it will let you play the newest games at much higher settings than an 9800 series card. and consider when you compare a 9800pro 3d03 score to an x800 3d03 score, the difference will probably be at least 3000-4000 points. that says a lot right there.

i'd try out both the pro and if you can get it, the xt.... THEN decide... you can find the xt for around 450 online... the xt platinum (whne they get them) is only 460 at CDW...

Oh, somone is getting banned. might want to edit that post before a moderator hunts you down and eats your face.

anyway, x800pro seems like the best bet right now if you absolutly have to have high end. you can actully go BUY one. i hear 6800gt's are also available *at least moreso than ultra* so you might look at that. If you can afford to spend $400 on the gpu, gt would be best but really, 9800pro will serve you i think. unless you have a $400 monitor to go with that $400 graphics card to play in those high resolutions. 60hz is teh ebil.
I just got a wicked deal on a 9800pro BBA. came with hynix 2.8 and a r360 core. flashed to xt using th enew sapphire bios and plays every game i chuck at it in 1024x768 perfectly in high detail. fsaa is nice. aniso is nice but ... eh. $200 more.
