I turned my computer on this morning and was greeted by a chewing, grinding sound. I quickly yanked the cord out of the back and opened my case to find out what had happened. THe YS Tech 125 CFM fan I had just put in the top had apparently caught a piece of the ATX cable out of the PSU which runs to the motherboard and started chewing it. Luckily it never cut all the way through. I wrapped up the damaged pieces in electrical tape and put a spare 120mm grill on the bottom of the fan. Hopefully this won't happen again. :)

i suggest using cable ties to keep all your cords neat and tucked away from fans. it also helps to improve airflow...i also recommend getting round ide cables (or folding the ribbons into a "W" shape and tied) to improve airflow.

another problem is the fans sucking in their own power cord
