Ok well I have been screwing with my 56k modem, normaly when I go to status the compression is like 67% or somthing liek that. Now it is saying MPPC I googled it and it sayed both ends must be using it. So my question is when I go to a site that dosnt use it will it switch back to the 67% compression thing? or did I mess somthing up?

MPPC is between two modems, not any website or whatever you visit during that on the internet.

The compression ratio is dependate on what you transfer, text (html) is more compressiable so gives you a higher percentage but images, video and audio can't be compressed so it lowers your percentage.

So why is it syaing my compression is mppc? Also since it is saying that, that means my connection is not being compressed at all right now right?\

Just relized in another window it says sent has been compressed 47% and recieved 64% so does this mena my connection is being compressed. If so why does it say MPPC under compression type.
