Get to double 120mm HCs and take them to a rad shop and have them join them together.

You could always have two or more radiators put side by side in series or in paralell. That achieves pretty much the same result with less fuss, though resistance will be bigger than with one big radiator.

has anyone ever tried a regular car radiator?i have a rad outta a suzuki samurai thats fairly small (about 18"x14"). i wonder what the flow is like. it has big veins on the inside. ive often thought of building it into a side panel of a case or something, so the side panel/door is really a giant rad. just a thought....

just use 2 double 120mm HC's in parallel, its just as good, maybe 1* C temp diff between that and one huge ginormous 4x120mm HC

I can't remember who it was but I believe he was a Senior member that did it. If anything do a search and such as I'm sure something will pop up.

I mounted 2 bonneville HC in a remote box. I used weatherstripping to seal between them.

It's not up and running yet, but soon. I'm building the case that goes with it.
I picked it up from the "Radiator Doctor" on ebay, and you can also order direct at 1-800-radiator. He's got just about any radiator you can think of for decent prices. Mine's an '85 Toyota truck radiator (16"x 20" fin area, 4 8x10 shrouds) that's got all copper tubes/fins and brass endtanks, so there's no galvanic corrosion worries.
Don't fret telling him what it's for, I told him and sent him this picture...nice guy. Keen on having his rads used for watercooled PC's too.
Ship packaging was quite good as well.

DEAR GOD! Are you the one that decided to use a Cadilac radiatior for your server?
damn that thing is MONSTEROUS!

bigger is not always better.
if your radiator creates to much head loss then its to big.
basicaly you have to match the rad to the pump you use and the fans you want

as for fans not decided
Im doing this strictly on performance not sound, or convience .... ill post pics of it prior to installing i knoe tht ALOT of ppl on these forum have way more knowledge on the subject than me and thtz great cuz it gives me a chance to learn even more....
bigger is not always better.
if your radiator creates to much head loss then its too big.
basicaly you have to match the rad to the pump you use and the fans you want
Quite true, but in this case the radiator was necessary for the size of my pump. It's well over 700gph (QuietOne 3000) which would starve to death being fed from a yittle-bitty heatercore. An HC's 5/8" outlet wouldn't easily supply enough to the pump's 1" inlet.
The fans are Sanyo-Denki 120's from DockGuys on ebay, and blow really well through this thing. Without the furnace filter on the back, they'll spin my ceiling fan 8' away.
This rad is built much like a super-sized blackice rad. Upclose it looks nearly identical, and has better airflow than my heatercore does.
It's a 1" thick single core rad.
And Sentential, I don't have a server nor a Caddy radiator, but I do have a piping hot Prescott that's roasting under it's stock hsf for now...

I say match the pump to the rad. I want to buy a rad big enough to cover the entire side of my case. If I have to buy a monstrously powerful Iwaki (MD30 maybe?), I will.

scroll down a little, it isn't an automotive radiator, but it is pretty much the biggest thing I have ever seen in use.
you should read the whole project though, it is good stuff
Good Luck

best thing next to a chiller yet.
beautiful work
Thanks man.
My goal is to have a Prescott @ room temp. That rad is to go in my basement that's always around 55F, so it's possible. I had my OC'd Barton around 4C above room temp with a single fanned, double pass heatercore and an old Gemini spiral waterblock.
Aim high.

Sweet setup man! I love the shourds but to be Uber extreme I think a Black Magic 12v automotive fan is in order :D

That's a bit steep and rather noisy I'd wager.

Yeah I't loud! and it is very expensive. Just giving people some crazy ideas ;-)

I think it'd be cheaper just to buy lots of 120mm Sanyo Denki's. In fact, that's exactly what I plan on doing.

Another method to solve the pump problem is to daisy chain (in series) another identical pump. That effectively doubles the head pressure.

I thought it was only around a 30-40% increase in head?

Yes, that's right. 1800mm.
The AquaComputer Airplex1800, probably the craziest manufactured rad out there.
And non improvised :)

:burn: how's this - 10 lbs of aluminum by Innovatek the Maxi-Rad.
shelf and stand by self. I put a 10" box fan tilted at 45 angle.
sys is AMD64 3200 clawhammer on Asus K8V SE w/gig Kingston PC4000.
at stock speeds cpu runs at 30-35C no more. ;)

True, but 102 feet of 10mm tubing? PASS
If I can't breath through it for 10 minutes, I won't use it. If I'd wanted that much tubing, I'd have dug that trench I'd always wanted.
That German WC gear sure does have some major bling going for it though.
If I had a CNC and a bunch of stock to work from, I could do some really nice looking stuff too. But since it's gonna just sit in the corner of the basement behind the furnace, it seems kindof pointless to make it too pretty.

Hmmm. Only a bit over $200. What a great deal!
But seriously, what the hell are they thinking? A real car radiator costs less than that and probably performs better. That's ridiculous. Good in theory, but disgustingly overpriced.

thx for the welcome. Innovatek parts work so well and although pricey I'm plan to use the same rad for years. So why not sexy while we're at it
