Next Gen video card problems

Since we have had our first generation of video cards have been using the .11 micron process, relatively soon we'll likely see the first .09 micron chips coming along. As we've all seen what trouble Intel, AMD, and IBM have been having with the .09 chips how does much smaller companies like nVIdia and ATi expect to handle this problem? We already have the 6800GT using two power lines and putting off an large amount of heat, what will .09 microns bring? 3 power cables and return of the 5800 blower? A three slot cooling solution? Video cards are one area that hasn't really slowed down over the last year or so. Eventually they are going to hit a wall much like CPU's did right? Perhaps even the return of the multi GPU graphics card?

Sorry if this has already been discussed here, but not being able to do searches for terms like .09, 90, or next put a hamper on my searching.

It's a question I have wondered as well. Given the experiences Intel and AMD have had, .09 just looks to be bad for everybody. My guess is that it will likely lead to more expensive GPUs, slower price drops, more heat (I consider it amazing they can cool them now with their comparativly tiny coolers!), etc.

No cards use 0.11, at least not high end. Thats next.

The x300 and the 6600 cards are manufactured using .11.

I too am kinda amazed the amount of heat these things can deal with! I think once we reach our limit with these types of chips then we will have to move to multi-GPU systems. Or dual core GPUs?

Also if you want to search for a two letter item add some *s to make it up to the required length:

Ie to search for 90 if the search terms must be >= 4 characters, just try *90*.

They usually do it. They make slower cards on the lower process first, they did it with 0.13 on the 9600, ATI did.

Ageed, but I fail to see why it matters if they are high-end or anything. Within a year, or two years max they are going to .09 and I'd am interested to see how they are going to deal with it.
