I have a gateway performance 800 but im not sure what brand/model my mobo is. Where could i check to find out?

Download SiSoft Sandra and run it's mainboard information utility. This will tell you at least what brand/make your mobo is.

There is an excellent site, motherboards.org (http://www.motherboards.org) , which claims to have details of all motherboards produced. If Sandra gives you a part number/manufacturers name, this site will give you all the gory details about your 'board......

Or take a look to your Mobo and search for a long number on a white label.
