Will I still be able to overclock it, if using the non-official Catalyst drivers?

I hope I'm not gonna be required to flash the BIOS just to be able to overclock it!!!

Yes, you can OC with non official drivers as well. In fact, some packages (like the Omegas) make it even simpler for you by installing OC utilities with the drivers :D

if its not clock locked you can oc it, but I hope u didnt pay over $40 for it, its almost as bad as a fx5200! I was thinking of buying one just for the dx9 and was told might as well use my fx5200 if I wanna see what dx9 is like without buying a $300 dx9 card. well now that prices have dropped, I grabbed a 9500np a few months back for $80 and its now a 9700pro :D got another one after that didnt softmod so I resold it. Even without softmods, its at least equal to a 9600xt cause of the 256 bit ram :)

I didn't know 9500np's could be modded into 9700Pro's, i thought it only could be modded into a 9700np?

The NP and Pro are the same card, its just a clock difference. Still, the 9500's are getting pretty hard to find, you are likely better off with this card for a few weeks(if you can stand it that is) so you can save enough cash to get a real card.

I'm right now trying it with 450/225. I'm checking it with the ATI Tool artifact scanner.

RMA'ed. The video card is back at the Staples store I got it from, because of poor performance related to the VRAM that can't even handle as high of a clock frequency as the VRAM with my Radeon 9000 Pro.

The Radeon 9600SE probably is majorly better than the Radeon 9200SE, but expect lackluster VRAM clock frequencies.

if you wanted a temp card, you should have bough a used ti4200 off ebay, it would crush anything below a 9600xt or 9500pro!

^ Not a 9600 Pro, you should have put that where you put 9600XT. ;)

I wanted to RMA it to get a GeForce 4 Ti4200, but the only GeForce 4 Ti4200 video card at the local store I went to costs $150 dollars :(. I had $130 dollars.

$150 for a Ti4200 is a joke!

Thats why you buy used cards. I got my 9500@9700pro for $130, and traded the vga silencer with it for a $40 game.

$40 for an ATI 9600se? Man, I got ripped for mine. :( I paid $130 for mine at newegg. Oh well, first video card I ever bought. You live and you learn.

I bought the card back in Jan 04, my first card really. Actually it was when I was putting together my first machine. Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a machine yet, got more work to do on it. I'm keeping an eye on newegg's refurbished area for a Sapphire 9800 Pro with 256mb ram and 256bit processing. MMMMMM.
