I am getting a nasty humm from my soundcard. It is an Aureal Vortex SQ1500 with digital out. I am just using the normal output. It has a front and rear I am just using the front output. I tried the rear and it is humming as well. I hooked it to my TV audio in and it is the same humm maybe even worse than my 4.1 speaker system.
It is an ABIT KG7 raid board.
The only things I can come up with is I noticed that the volume output is lower than when the speakers are hooked into my main rig. I played the same video on my main rig in sig below and then on my server and with windows media player cranked up max and the system volume cranked up max it was simply louder on my main rig.
Could it be a weak Power Supply. The PSU in it is a generic 350watt unit. Is it possible that the power supply is just not giving enough juice or can it be creating the background static. Can the PCI location make any differecne. I am not using any of the onboard sound plugs or connectors. Any suggestions at all.
I want to use it to watch downloaded content on my TV, I have the video taken care of with a Geforce FX 5600 card, now if I can just get the sound working fine. I went with a cheaper card becuase all I wanted was simple 2 channel output and the speakers on my TV are not exactly fancy speakers. The only reason to have it on play on the TV is I can crank and lower the volume with the TV remote.
