Can anyone explain to me why windows sees my floppy but every time i try to read a floppy it tells me to put in a floppy?
i had a reoccuring problem.... for some strange reason when i had the floppy drive screwed into the case I would have ths same problem as you are having... when i removed it from the case it would work fine.... i think maybe your screws are too tight? Maybe too long?

It could also be a case/alignment problem. When I first installed a floppy in my box the front panel of the case was slightly off, or the floppy was too far forward in it's mounting. When I put in a floppy, the diskette did not seat correctly in the slot and the drive did not see it. Adjusting the floppy drive's positioning cured the problem.
