I've been experimenting with this hypothesis for 4 months. This is a secret between myself and this forum:

I live in a dorm at MSU. I rearrange my room a lot, so i have had to move my computer on my desk, on the ground, and on the desk again. Well, i just rearranged my room again.

Everytime i would move my tower, i noticed a temperature change. When it was on my desk, 36 degrees w/ 19 ambient. When its on the ground, its 28 degrees w/ 19 ambient. YES, that is the trick.

This post is meant for a good laugh, but in actually, it did work. On my desk, my computer is next to the window, which blows cold air in. On the ground, there is no air coming in.

Cold air is more dense than hot air and will be lower in the room. Putting your case on the floor is always ideal, especially if you have a window open letting in cold air as it will all collect on the floor. My temperatures went up 3C when I took my case off the floor. Of course, now it's also sitting in the sun.

It would be optimal if you could get the front intake near an airconditioning vent in the floor. :D

Yesterday night, the temperature outside was 3c and my tower is in front of the window. My computer temp was 35c. After moving it to the floor, my temperature at 3:00pm with 14c outside is 27c.

what do you live in michigan or something? im in florida :( , never cold in this damned state UNLESS its at the peak of the winter, then its down to mayb 35-40F.

you wouldn't wan an intake from the floow because you'd need to rais the tower lots to get sufficiant air to the fans, and the floor is COVERED in dust so you would be sucking up so much dust that it would probably heat up you pc anyway.

The floor is clean, theres a purifying next to it. I also have a filter on the intake of my fan. I do live in michigan, attending michigan state. Go blue! :< sigh

Just turn ur exaust fans around an intake, and same with the intake>exaust.
I did that and it worked a lot better,it allowed the window are to flow in :D -4 temps

Despite the fact that this post is nearly unintelligible, I feel compelled to respond to it.

They're called air filters:

I don't know about you, but I don't live in a chalk and sawdust factory so dust has never really been that big of an issue for me.

haha very funny, but some of us have carpet in our homes, and do you know what happens to carpet? That's right it collects dust. but anyway from what I have read a lot of people avoid using filters because they restrict airflow but if you're sure they don't restrict at all then i'll give it a go. :)

Got into Umich, but i have a full ride at michigan state. Pay 20 grand to goto a school where i support the football program dearly, or get a free tuition and 500 bucks back if i goto michigan state. Yeah, i was that kid who was smiling when umich beat state 2 weeks ago.
