View Full Version : Not Stabile Anymore???
I have an 800 Celeron@1066 133fsb Now very unstabile.
O.K. I passed SiSoft Sandra burn in. I ran the comp for a few weeks OC'ed. I game like a mother, so I run my comp very hard 90% of the time that I am on it. For some reason it is now freezing up on me or just flat out dumping the game and returning back to the Windows desktop. I have MBM and it doesnt ever show a temp. above 39C. As I type this it shows 30C. I had just reformatted my HD. Could i have a bad install of Windows 98? Any suggestions? Look at my profile for installed hardware.

Hi TUK101,
Probably you must still increase the Vcore, when I Oced my C2 600 it was rock stable at 1.8v for long time, but in the last 3 months needs 1.85v to be stable!?
I hope it helps you ;)

I hope it helps you ;) Thanks "The Doors", I'll try that again, but in the past when i increased the voltage I had a hard time even getting the machine to post. I always got an error regarding the cache. I'll try it again for good measure just to cover my bases. I am at 1066 right now with no problems. But then again, right now I am not gaming either.

What kind of error you got about the cache?

You sound like you are sitting on the fine line between stable and unstable. I would suggest backing off just slightly on the MHz, to improve stability.......

I did however OC the video card and I just got done playing NFS Porche Unleashed for about 3 hours and it ran fine. But what has me puzzled is that playing starcraft online is the only game that gives me real problems. It will just boot me clean back to the desktop and the game is completely gone:confused: . But when I run it at standard 800@100fsb it runs fine. Wierd huh?

At the risk of quoting myself again, It is sounding even more likely that you've taken the chip as far as it can go, unless you plan to go for "more exotic" cooling techniques.
What's your motherboard ?

I drilled a hole in the side of the case and installed a 4 inch fan there. It brounght my temperatures down a couple of degrees Celsius and I seem to be running a lot more stabile now.:D Thanks for your feedback, and I'll try to keep you posted as to wrether or not it was the difference.

hi tuk101 :)
Which vcore voltage your cpu is having now? If you re running this baby at 1066 with a 1.85 vcore voltage and it is still unstable maybe you may increase it a little more....maybe 0.05 volts more :)
Personally am using a FOP38 global win heatsink and at this frequency (1066 mhz) all seem to work fine.
Have you tried a better cooling system?

Ok, I have a Soyo board too, and I get a similar problem when I try to run memory at 133MHz. It doesn't matter if I'm running at 133MHz FSB or at 100FSB + 33PCI. Some games lock, some run fine, 3DMark quits in the middle of the demo and so on...
My board (Soyo SY-6VBA133) has a BIOS option under the Soyo Setup tab, something like "Memory Ultra Fast". Disabling it turns my system stable. I'm sure my memory isn't a bottleneck, I've tested it on other systems and it only reveals the problem on Soyo boards.
It's a pain to have to disable this option. Sandra memory scores drop from 275/265 to 145/144, but it's the only way to run it stable.

Some games run cleaner and faster with the mx-200 and some games run better on my Voodoo 3. 3Dmark 2001 runs better on the mx-200 though. LOL, it's the best that I can do for now, at least till I can scare up another 100-150 bucks for a better card.

What I am thinking what the problem was is that I wasnt quite cool enough. It seems to be running much smoother and more stabile since i cut the hole in the side of my case and added a 4 inch fan to suck the hot air out. I have been maintaining about 2-5 degrees Celsius cooler since doing this.
