I know there was a whole big thread about copper corrosion and tarnishing a little while ago, but will fingerprints and the tarnish associated with them on the base of my 6002 affect temps, or are they simply aesthetic? Been handling it a lot in leak testing and setup, and the base has a pretty messy looking surface to it now, as well as general outer housing tarnish. This I dont care about, but should I bother taking some ethyl to the base or should it not affect any thermal transfer?

Purely aesthetic. Might make some difference, but we'd be talking in the 0.01C sorts of differences.

Just as lithker said ive herad vinegar will clean it. Ive never tried it before but I have tired lime juice. It took about 15-20 min of soaking but when done it looked brand new.

Brasso...works great. But why worry about tarnish?
