Just happened to go over to...
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

On the top... sounds like they are going to be releaseing the final Firefox 1.0 (not PR) on Nov. 9th (tomorrow, same day as Halo 2 release).

Soo now maybe the Firefox CPU jumps will be fixed! (firefox.exe jumping to 70%ish CPU use when scrolling or changeing pages, and random crashes).

hopefully, I love firefox but these random crashes have got to stop.

I noticed that too (the crashes) I'll be getting HALO 2 at midnight, and then play that a bit, and get Firefox 1.0. I hope it irons out a lot and also has good compatibility with plug-ins. We'll see.

weird, i have never had firefox crash, and never seen cpu usage rise above 25%, though i had like 20 windows open, with like 8 tabs in each, so i guess that would be expected.

Yeah. I don't think it's really Firefox. I only noticed that it didn't fight for CPU power properly. If I was crunching for F@H, then Firefox would lag, then it would suck up a bunch of CPU, then go OK. I hated that I would have to shut other progs down someitmes just so Firefox can get what it needs. Didn't need a lot, but it just didn't fight for it right.

I'm looking forward to it. I recommend it a lot to customers that are concerned with popups and all, and I'm telling them that 1.0 is coming out tomorrow. So hopefully a lot of ppl will switch over, and take the jump.

I've never had crashes with firefox.

I have had a lot of slowness and apparent hangs (solved by patience) when clicking on links for pdf's or doc's in firefox.

Those are the only problems I've found on the computers I use - 2 old HP pavilions, DIY AMD at home, newish evo500 at work, and ~2 year old dell gx250's at school. Various software and network configurations, so I've been happy with what I've seen with firefox.

If you look on google, it crashes on everything though. I think that hints at where the problem might be (http://www.pebkac.net/). ;)

only problems i get with firefox are the pdf problems that imog also experiences. its not that it crashes more than i takes a good 45 seconds to load.

i tend to keep my windows install cleaner than most people though...

When the final release comes out, IS IT FREE or pay? And if its free, how do they make any money to sustain themselves?

Never had crashes myself. What's new in this new version, anyway? I mean, how can it get even better?

Well, more bugfixes that were reported, a few design tweaks, and single-window mode built into the default install (I know that will make quite a few people happy :D).

No crashes for me either, and I only seem to have the imfamous PDF problem on my other computers. Mabey it's a version thing...

Now htat it's out, do I have to uninstall my 1.0 PR and install the full 1.0 or does it automatically update itself?

Want to know how they make money? Because people like me think the world of it, donate, and buy the Firefox shirts. (I'm wearing my golf shirt today from Firefox). I would rather give $20 to a non-profit Mozilla than $2 to Microsoft (even though, I just thought of it, I DID buy HALO 2 today. Meh.)

Version 0.8 was the last totaly stable version as far as I can tell. Version 1.0(pr) randomly crashes on my rig too. Definetly hoping the RC v1 solves the crashes because I have gone over to Firefox almost exclusively, I only use IE6 when a web site wont run correctly with Firefox, which is happening less and less. Tabbed browsing is the best thing to hit the internet since broadband came along....
