now i have questions. do you need to have a wireless internet router and connect it?

or can i just stand next to someone with a ds and send them a message? if so how do i send it to that persons game and not someone elses nearby

im confused any help?

it says it has a built in wireless feature so as long as im within 30 feet of someone can i send them a message?

First, nobody knows, its not out anywhere so anything I say is just what I have read could be conjecture, rumors and maybe some stright out lying.

AFAIK the DS will be able to find any other DS without an AP. There's also talk that you can play over the internet which leads me to believe that it can also associate to an AP.

There will be a program embedded which will allow you to send text and picture to each other, as for selecting who and having privacy I don't know.

whats a AP?

and i got this from nintendo

Wireless: DS users will be able to connect with a local wireless network of up to 16 players. Nintendo's guaranteed range is 30 feet, but will extend far beyond that depending on circumstances. It assures high response rates required for real time game play, and will make use of both IEEE 802.11 and Nintendo's proprietary communication protocol, which provides low battery consumption. Players will be able to chat and play games without any connecting cords, completely untethered. The DS technology also provides for a wireless LAN connection, which could allow a theoretically infinite number of players to connect at a hot spot and compete at a central game hub on the Internet, even if they're thousands of miles apart.

AP = Access point, a wireless device which manages communications between other wirelss devices.
