The dryer(or washer, im not sure) is hooked up through some white box with a plug on it that says 'Energy Smart, products for a cleaner earth'. I was wondering if i could plug in one of these dealies since the comp is on all the time now. Does anybody know what one of these things do specifically?

My mother has a box on her dryer that lets the electric co. shut off the power for 15min. at a time for a % off her electric bill. I would find out wht the box does before I plug my computer in it.

ahhhh! Don't plug your computer into any device that will restrict the power supply!! All power saving features must be either onboard or connected to the computer via a data cable as well for computer control of the process. The only separate box to have is a filter (like on a zapcatcher) which smooths power supplies but does not reduce them.
