Why not pick up a flashable 5260 and convert it into a full-fleged 5660 DSL modem/router? You can get them rather cheap.

hehe

cool I didnt know you can do that

would it work? I know nothing about dsl and what you need.....

however you said turn it into a 5660 modem/router would that work even if they said they configured it for a 5851 router?

and where can you get the 5260 router?

they dont have it listed in pricewatch...

No it wont work on the 5851. When DSL took off, Sprint and a few other ISP's ordered a ton of 5260's from Efficient Networks. Efficient couldn't keep up with the demand and were forced to downgrade the firmware on their 5660 modem/routers to 5260's in order to meet the needs of the ISP's.

This was found out and a firmware hack was found. The firmware hack enabled you to flash the neutered 5660 back into a fully functional router with DCHP, DNS, NAT, RIP.
