Weird I had no idea Samsung even made DVD recordable drives. Why not just go for a brand name that you know will be good like a plextor or lite-on?

Cause Im on a real tight budget. 81 dollars to spend, and this comes close with the 7 dollars I need to pay for shipping.

I agree. Go with the NEC. My 1300a has not let me down yet. I've burned at least 80+ DVD movies and data disks along with 200+ CD-R's of music and data CD's. =)

My cousin's Lite-on DVD burner is pretty good in terms of burning DVD's and CD's but is pretty noisy when inserting a disk. But then again, that's what that Nero program that can lower the reading speeds is for. :sn:

why a dual-layer?

id say wait to buy a dual layer until the media gets cheaper... or youll want to buy a new one anyway beacause by that time theyll be faster and more reliable...
