what is the difference between these two drives... i look at the spec and they seem to be the same to my newbie eyes.

since there is a huge price difference is the more expensive drive is suppose to be better? why?. TIA

The more expensive one has FDB(Fluid Dynamic Bearings), so it should be quieter. I would get the cheaper one though.

The 7K60 has some additional low power modes, from the spec sheets here:

The E7K60 also is available in a 40GB capacity. From the white paper links, it appears that both are using FDB bearings. This can be seen in the acoustic specifications as well. There may very well be PCBA or component changes to the controller as well.

Sorry, Xaotic is right. I Did not see the first time one was an "E"7K60. In any case, the E7K60 is enhanced reliability and intended for servers. The standard 7K60 is for laptops.
