I have some questions about JBOD mode.
As I know,it is a kind of RAID.
When I read reviews about NF3 chipset,I found some articles say that NF3 support JBOD.
But when I go to NVIDIA homepage, I found they only claim to support RAID 0,1,0+1.And actually I found this in THG.
Then my question is
1. Does NF3 support it?
2. Which chipset or southbridge support it? (I know VT8237)
3. Is there any guide on how to build a JBOD system? Is it just like building a RAID 0,1 system?

thanks

Welcome to the Forums and the Addiction!

JBOD is not actually a RAID level. The acronym stands for Just a Bunch Of Disks. This simply indicates that the controller can run single disks in non RAID configurations. Depending on manufacturer with higher level controllers, it still may require RAID configuration in the controller's BIOS, but this will not apply to onboard controllers as a rule.

1) Yes, it's just like running SATA on NF2. You will still need a floppy disk or slipstreamed CD for drivers.

2) JBOD is not normally listed, as it's not technically a RAID level. There are some exceptions in PCI/PCI-X controllers, because some controllers do not support single disks. Promise had some Fasttraks that did this.

3) Very similar, as far as loading the OS. Generally, you will not need to configure arrays. Check the manuals, just in case.
