My roomate's computer had an error while installing SP2. It would no longer boot at all and a couple of key .sys files were missing. I told him to reinstall XP over his current windows so he did not lose all his files.

Now his old account folder in "documents and settings" is giving him an access denied error. This happens even if he is logged on as administrator or even if he creates an account with the same name as his previous account and gives it admin privilages.

I am assuming all I have to do is change the permissions of the folder but the option is not avaliable.

Any ideas on how he can gain access to the folder?

thanks
