Hello all,
I have been using for some time an ASUS V9560/TD (GeForce 5600 FX, see http://www.asus.com/products/vga/v9560td/overview.htm) with 128 MB... I need to replace the heatsink and fan with something else that is less noisy (don't we all?) but there is no option (read: for the wife to accept!!!) to buy a new heatsink! Note here that I have already removed the golden-coloured X-shaped aluminum cover of the HSF (the one with the ASUS logo) and I saw a reduction in the noise...
Now, I happen to have this old Celeron Slot-1 300 MHz cpu in my junkyard, and I *noticed* that the stock heatsink and fan assembly may actually be placeable on the GeForce replacing the stock HSF assembly (plus some arctic silver for good measure!)... I seem to recall that these were almost inaudible HSFs, back at that time!
So, does anyone have any data on comparative power output of the chips? Also, has anyone tried this? Any dangers in trying? Any hints?
I would really appreciate an answer!
Cheers -- Nick
