Celeron HS VS. AMD K6-III HS

My friends mobo fried today, and he brought it to me today so I'll take a look at it and try to fire it up, we failed...

To the question: I tried his 1.75inch high HSF on my K6-III and when windows loaded it showed the BSOD
but with my HS looks like a HS from P-mmx 233 works fine..

Why is that?

To be honest I've never held a celeron sink but maybe it's the fan on the sink that makes the difference. Or possibly the celeron sink needs to be lapped. Possibly because the celeron fan wasn't designed to be put on a socket 7 board it wasn't getting enough contact pressure.

it could be made out of steel or min need of lapping or you might have put it on the wrong way or there might be something near the cpu that is stopping it from touching the cpu
