to those of u who have already read this in other forums im am sorry but i am trying to get the word out and to any evga workers who read this i will follow up once an agreement has been made

me and many others all got bad cards from zipzoomfly.com clocked at 324core 702mem when i updated to eVGA correct speed at 325core 1100mem i got artifacts. i recieved an RMA number on nov. 3rd shipped on nov. 4th. they got my video card on the 10th. RMA status in process. called on mon. to see what was taking so long they told me they ran out of cards.

description of my 6800 limited edition:
-came in 6800 ultra box with stickers over the ultra in some areas
-upon opening it came with all documentation that comes with an ultra card.
-the card has 2 power molex connectors just like ultra
-6800 ultra superior cooler
-two dvi ports
-16 pipes and 6 vertex shaders found in everest

why was it packed like this if its not a 6800 ultra?

quick comparison of 6800 LE vs. 6800 GT vs. 6800 Ultra

6800 LE - Ultra pcb, Ultra core downclocked to 325mhz, 1.6ns ram at 1100mhz, Ultra cooler, dual dvi.

6800 GT - GT pcb, 350mhz GT core, slower ram at 1000mhz, one dvi.

6800 ULTRA - Ultra pcb, Ultra core at 400mhz, 1.6ns ram at 1100mhz, Ultra cooler, dual dvi.

if eVGA have made the mistake by giving out RMA numbers without supplying the replacement card and not being able to supply future breakdowns of the 6800 LE what card should they give out that would be the most fair? who should pay the extra cost of these mistakes?

i think they should refund the money... it's "most" fair this way. and now you'll have the threehundred-something dollars to put towards another card.

the fact that it was all built on an ultra pcb and components is irrelevant because they sold it as a slower card. The memory being bad is another situation though. If it was advertised to run run with certain specs, then it should run at those specs...

i say get your money back and get a new card.

I would not settle for less than a replacement Ultra. I am an owner of the LE eVGA card, mine is a keeper but I will also make them be true to the 1 yr warranty that came with it and if they can not replace it with a card of the same caliber then I feel they should replace it with an Ultra because the specs will be the closest to what I had.

not trying to start an argument here, but what if they only offered a refund or a lesser card?

For example: what if they oc'd a GT's memory to run at 1100MHz and underclocked the core to 325 and then guaranteed it would run stable at those freq's? would they not then be providing the same "specs" that they advertised?

For the record, I would push for a replacement ultra as well, because for all intents and purposes that is what you purchased. But, what if? After all, they didn't mention 1.6 ns ram did they? (i'm not familiar with the exact description of the card.) As I understand it, they only advertised the effective speed of the memory. As long as they provided a card that DID run at the clocks advertised they would technically be providing the "right" card... right?

zipzoomfly ad (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=322699)

6800 limited edition pdf (http://www.zipzoomfly.com/PDF/322699.pdf)

evgs was trying to pull a fast one. there plan make profit off failed ultras by selling them to zipzoomfly and newegg then they in turn make profit on these cards at $325. there plan backfired. i think my $339 retail price i paid is not far off from the wholesale price of a 6800 Ultra. if its not then they should lose money for not selling working cards and not providing a fair replacement less then 3 weeks after the card was sold.

well... after reading the advert and the pdf, i stand corrected and have to agree with ck in that the specs of the le are practically IDENTICAL to the ultra. I now understand teh big stink over this.

and to lithker: sorry to hear you aren't happy with the outcome of your ordeal. (am really curious about what it is...)
