quesiton 1: What kind of clocks are people getting with the x800? I have a pro softmodded to an XT plat and its really nice at those speeds but I Wonder if I can get more out of it without modding the **** out of it

question 2: I hear the stock fan sucsk. While I have ramsinks on the bakc side of mine, I Was wondering if I Should replace it

Thanks guys!

1.) 520-540 core on stock cooling is the common range. The memory is all over the place, though. Some of the 2.0 chips will do 600, while some 1.6 chips (like mine :( ) won't even do PE speeds without a voltage bump. With aftermarket cooling it's pretty easy to hit 600 core on most cards. As for memory cooling, you might get a 10mhz bump out of some decent ramsinks with a fan over them.

2.) Yeah, it really, really sucks. Seeing as you've already voided your card's warranty by flashing it, you might as well pick up an Arctic Silencer and see just how far your card can go :)

Are those artic revsion 4's good then? The stock cooler looks pretty chunky in the first place.

what might help is using ati tool to lock the fan speed of the fan at 100%. This would keep things a little cooler, and it might help your overclock.

i think i got a junk x800pro. mine will only do about 520 core with stock cooling, and my memory will barely climb over 500. little dissapointing but will see when she's underwater.

you can't expect the chips to overclock well. The reason it is a pro is because the chip couldn't run at the higher xt and xt-pe speeds. That is not a bad boost from 475! hahaha, and don't toss it in a pond or something ;) i'm sure it could fetch a pretty penny!

my max clock with stock is 520/570 at the moment, i think the ram can prob go higher, but i get some lock-ups with the core at 525... i'm thinking of getting w/c soon, so hopfully ill get higher gpu clocks.

With the stock fan at 100%, I was getting a core clock of 531.00 stable in the ATiTool Beta 9. I could bench easy at 532.5 though.

Now with the pencil vmod, resistance lowered on the R1597 from 420Ohms to 372Ohms, I get the core clock of 576.82 stable in ATiTool :attn: . I don't think I'll be going further as I kind of reached my goal of 575 plus I want to have a card to play HL2 on.

I also did vdd and vddq mods and memory will do up to 552 from 540. I think they are getting too hot though so I haven't tested for full stability. I'm going off to put the ATi Silencer 4 on now and then testing the memory.

The quick answer for question 1 is is to see our database (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=305700) of X800 cards and their overclocks (and post your OC in the thread so it can be added too!) :)
