problem with SB live mp3+!

hello all i have recently purchased a new t.v. in /out card well in order to get sound off the t.v. i have to plug a cable from the t.v. card to the sound card, i plug the cable into the microphone jack on the back of the soundcard and it works, but the quality is just horrible! static and high pitched noises, i have tried different cables, i even bought a brand new one today and no change, but if i plug the speakers directly into the t.v. card the sound is perfectly clear...so i know it is either a problem with the cables or the card..and sence i have tried 3 different cables my guess is it is the card...does anyone know how to fix this? as i really need it working because i am trying to backup some videos that are degrading and need it quick :(

Try using the line in port instead of the microphone port.

LOL thank you WyrmMaster you fixed a problem i have been messing with for over 12 hours lol! sorry i always skip the simplest things, i thought it might be the vibration from my watepump so i put foam all over it, changed settings used different speakers,bought new cables and it was that i had to plug it into line-in! whoa! thanks again i was ready to head out the door to buy a new sound card
