Hell yeah, run that baby 100% !!!

You won't kill it, don't worry, just make sure it's on a flat surface where it can breathe, thus cooling efficiently and adequatly.

if i had a laptop i would probably keep it at 75% for a while and make sure it doesn't overheat. then maybe slowly up the %s

mmm, getting killed with head... LOL. Well I would back everything you have up on kind of a regular basis, and then run it at 100% for the duration of the warranty. haha. good luck with it no matter what!

I ran my Laptop with an XP2200M full blast with no problems. However recently the hard drive crashed and I'm thinking the extra heat may have played a factor. It was only a year, maybe it was just the hard drive. In any case make sure it is well ventilated. I'm intrested to see how that thing will fold. From what I can put together that processor is very good.

the cheapest laptop cooling is 4 20oz. soda bottle caps. You put one on each corner. It's critical that they are raised up somehow. all the heat from the power supply comes out through the bottom, and some laptops have intake fans down there, too. When I had my dell, it made a big difference on how often the fan came on, and how fast. do you have any fans on the bottom of the case? Also I heard crazy things about people putting arctic silver on the heatsink, but that operation scares me :D

I have a laptop - Acer Aspire 1353XC which folds whenever I have it on the mains power supply. It folds at full load, under linux, with a couple of things to prop up the back two corners, and with the lid open a bit. Never yet caused a problem.

I would say start out at <100% and see how it goes, get a feel for how hot it gets under what load, before ramping folding up to 100%.

On my Dell Inspiron I have to fold @ 45% to keep the heat down. Once I hit 50, it skyrockets. If I fold @ 100%, the temps are reported at almost 80'C. Not worth ruining good hardware just to fold a few more proteins IMO. I fold with what I can, but that's my limit.

Just check the temps and if they're ok, fold on :)

i have an external 12cell battery that rases the back up about 2 inches so im good on clearence.

its been folding for ~20min @ 75% and its semi warm...i think this is fine...ill have to figure out how to check the temp though

Yeah clearance is really important. I have fans on the bottom my laptop, so I put my computer on a big board or book the size of my laptop so I don't cover up the fans when I have it sitting anywhere. Some people throw their laptops on their beds covering up their fans. >.< I used to run my folding at 100% now I run at 75% CPU simply because my laptop get dirty quick with my fans going full blast. I guess each to his own on how much CPU you use. You just need to find the right setting for you. It could fold 25%, just as long as it folds that's what's important.

I have a 1.6ghz Pentium M lappy and I run it 100% whenever it's on AC power. I've had it around a year without any problems. Of course, if you notice it getting excessively hot, back it off.

I'm running a Prescott P4, so that's why I tend to back off on my CPU load.
