View Full Version : new 6800 nu... wondering about Bench's

I was wondering what kind of scores I should see from a new eVGA 6800 nu. I already installed it and checked to see if it was eligible for the RivaTuner "unlock". I guess my luck ran out with my unlocked 2800+ Barton :) Needless to say, the card is locked. Bone stock it gave me 8500 in 3d03. I overclocked to 375/815 (from 325/700) and it only went up like 200 points. I got just over 50k in Aquamark3 and 17500 in 3d2001. I'm wondering how these scores compare and what I can do to improve them. I'm seeing people with scores around 10k for 6800 nu's.

thanx for the help in advance

i got one 10k+ run from mine but not stable clocks, at 390/900 unlocked i get around 9.8k. Try to get a better cooler for it or at least put some as5 on the current heatsink. Also trying a vcore mod might help.

I would assume you at least got it to 12/6 as that seems to be a given.

I had 3 Leadtek A400 TDH cards, stock on my S939 3500 running 2.2 scored about 9300 in 03. Overclocked to 375/850 was a gain to 10200.

Start overclocking it and tweaking try the newest driver 67.02 I believe beta though but illiminates some shimmering issues in games and performance appears to be decent.

With my 6800nu i got around 9000 stock, 9500 at 390/780, and 10400 with 390/780 and 16x1, 6vp.

I don't think mine is capable of unlocking the remaining 4 pipes... I went through the RivaTuner (v15.2) deal to check and it says "SW Masked Units: 0". I assume that means that there are no software masked pipes meaning I can't softmod it to unlock them. I could be doing something wrong. The tutorial I looked at was for RivaTuner v15.1.
I did some overclocking and completely re-installed XP. I am now up to 9366 3d03. I'm still kind of hoping for a 10k. I do have some AS5 sitting around here from when I installed me Tt Volcano 12... U guys think that would help me get further? Right now at 380/750 I get artifacts. I had to back it off to 360 to get through the benchmark. I haven't maxxed out the memory yet... I'm in the process of doing that now. I'll let you know how it goes.

15.2 you need and when you look you will see the disabled pipe and vertex shader just enable them both reboot and run 3D03 and watch for artifacts

ok, under the NVStrap tab, under the Graphics Processor Configuration there is a check box that says "Allow Enabling Hardware Masked Units". When I clicked the check, it said that permanent damage could result if the additional 4 pipes were junk. Could I actually destroy my card by messing with a tinkerer like RivaTuner?

don't worry about that. no you will not destroy your card

here is a link for you when I had a NU card, and I was trying to figure it out

the soft mod can always be undone, but if you run into challenges as my friend did he needed a spare agp card as riva tuner holds the settings and he overclocked to high and system locked up so he had to install the other card uninstall riva tuner 15.2 put 6800 back in reload RT 15.2 and watch what he was doing LOL.

Yep 15.2 will unlock any 6800nu but that dont mean its gonna be ok.But eVGA have a high success rate so i would bet you will be fine.Im having a problem with 67.02 drivers so they are the best looking drivers meaning that games play sweet and look awesome webpages look much clearer than with 70.41 or the 67.50's .But rivatuner will not hold the reg hacks. So i have to overclock it everytime i boot up.Has anyone else tried these drivers with RT and if so did you have the same problem. My card as it stands now with the 67.50 driver and OCed to 371/777 will bust 11000 in 3dmark and 4000 in 05 every time i run it but with the 67,02's i only get 10300.And im sure its because i cant hold my setting like fastwrite off and some other setting that i prefer. And funny thing is my cpu score only dropped by 1 point (11119)879 to(10304) 878 so i know its the cards settings not the cpu or the driver its self.

Unlocking pipes can cause damage to a card, and rivatuner is not enabled if you boot into windows in safe mode.

Do the new cards really need a mod to perform well? I don't know, just seems as if there's a lot of post of poor performing 6800 cards? :-/

Nah i got 9900 with mine stock(no softmod and and OCed 350/725) and the 66,81 drivers. But at that piont was using fastwrite and few other things that limited my score .But i didnt know about them at the time.Because til i got this card other flashing my FX5900 and my 9800se i never messed withany of that stuff.
